What's On My Desk - 01-27-09

I had an issue with the focus on this shot, I believe it was because I was holding the camera...
Also I'm not sure which version I like best.... first had Auto White Balance set, and the second one I had Incandescent White Balance set. I like the warmth of #1 but I like the "realness" of #2.

What's On My Desk - 01-26-09

A little on the "gold" side, but that's what I get for using Auto White Balance.

Logo.....

Ok, here it is in blue.... I need to figure this issue out still... Guess I'll have to ask in class today.

Logo Idea

I'm still working on my logo, but I think this is very close.... I haven't a clue as to why it's uploading on Orange... when it was blue on white... something is wrong here... but that's the design.

Photo Shoot 01/19 - creative

Here are a few images of my last photo shoot with a little bit more creative look.

"lensbabies"

"Blue Eyes"

"Vintage"
"lensbabies" from an older photo shoot, but I thought it worked well here.

New Project (and I'm a slacker) "Whats on My Desk"

So it's been at least a week, if not more since I payed any attention to my weekly assignments. I really do need to work on this last assignment because it's really challenging. Or maybe I'm not SEEING things that are upside down or inside out. I must get my butt in gear on this assignment and stop being such a slacker.

Bad Barbara, BAD!

But today, sitting at my desk I came up with a side project. "What's on My Desk" I will photograph one item on my desk every day, week, at random. Any object at random. If it lands on my desk, it will be photographed. This could be really fun..... or really boring.... that will all depend on what, if anything, interesting show up. I don't think I will limit this to my office desk, I have a desk at home too, and I know for a fact that TOTAL random things end up there too. Gotta keep my options open, ya know.

Hopefully each item will be photographed in a artistic manner to keep you, and myself at that matter, interested in keeping the project going. Each item may not be recognizable either, like I said I want to keep it artistic and interesting. I will try my hardest NOT to edit the pictures in any way.... I said TRY not to. I am very addicted to my Photoshop and even Microsoft Picture manager for those quick "contrast" fixes.

Each picture will be taken with my 50mm at f/1.4 set to Aperture priority. I will play with the metering and maybe white balance, but not much else.

Photo Shoot 01/19 - 3

Fun in the snow.

Photo Shoot 01/19 - 2

I love how this shot came out. The back ground is very out of focus making it look almost like a back drop. And look how grown up and pretty she looks !

Photo Shoot 01/19 - 1

Here is one of my favorite shots from my latest photo shoot. I'm finding that a lot of my favorites are the random ones. The "SMILE" shots don't always come out looking as natural as the "caught off guard" shots.

But then a smile is always perfect too!

50mm f/1.4

Today I received my very special lens The Nikon 50mm f/1.4 And I absolutely LOVE it. Here are a few shots I took.

Upside down - Jen

Turtle-Neck

Self Portrait

This is actually my most favorite picture of myself. My only problem with it is... my make shift flash reflector rubber banded to the flash :-) Maybe this can be removed with out to much distortion in PS?

My favorite model

Jen... another wonderfully joyful moment, someone really likes to get her photo taken.

SEE yourself

In order to really "see" someone... and to photograph them well, one must "SEE" them SELF... wrinkles and all. Self study of the eyes.

ASSIGNMENT - inside out/upside down

UGH
My friend are tough! Seriously. Well this is totally interesting and very challenging.. But I'm sure I'll find something.....

B&W Piper

Desperately wishing she was outside playing in the snow. But first I wanted to grab a quick shot. After a few blinding flashes from reflection off the storm door, I took her out to play...

More Cool PS Actions 5 (Boost)

More Cool PS Actions 4 (CrossPross)

Watermark

Is this all that is involved in a Watermark? You just type over the picture? Well it works for me... for now.

More Cool PS Actions 3 (lovely)

This one I'm sure I will use a lot in the future, maybe not pushed as much as I did for this example.. but I like the softness and the color boost.

I realize that my hair is on FIRE, this can be brought back down a little... But for now I'll leave it.

More Cool PS Actions 2

Wow, so I couldn't sleep last night and I was feeling very creative. I looked through some new PS Actions on the web, and picked a few more I liked. Then hit up some old photos. Again I think... I really need some more people pictures to test these actions... I just love the effects they give. But, even these new fancy actions.. I still need to remember all the other things I've learned in PS so I don't rely on "pre-sets" and continue on learning the actual "how to's".
But here are some examples :
